Jeff and Lynda Bennett

Jeff Bennett and Lynda Cunningham met in 1994 at work. Lynda needed someone to watch her cat for a week, Jeff said yes and the rest is history!

In 2001 Lynda saw an alpaca commercial and thought: they are so cute! It would be fun to go to some farms on the week-ends, a reason to go different places. It turned out the nearest alpaca ranch was Flying Dutchman Alpacas, just nine miles south of the office. We went out on the way home from work one Friday night and stayed till 1am! Amanda was so nice. She showed us the alpacas, the farm and then we sat around talking about alpacas.

We went out to visit often and fell more and more in love with the pacas. Finally, in 2004 we decided to go for it. We asked Amanda to help us find the right female to start our herd. In late summer 2004 she sent us photo’s of Lorna Dune, her bloodlines, show record and we said YES!

In the years before Amanda, Vince, Cody, Hunter and all the pacas moved to Bend Oregon, we spent a lot of time at Vince & Amanda’s helping out with the pacas: feeding, breeding, babies, shearing and poop scooping! Anyone who has spent anytime with Amanda knows being in her company you will not get away with out learning something new. Vince’s fabulous cooking was an added attraction.

As our friendship and alpaca knowledge grew we were given the opportunity to baby sit the herd several times. In 2007 we even handled several deliveries! The alpacas where very tolerant with the amateur care takers and only took advantage of the situation a few times.

Over those years we had many wonder times with Amanda, Vince and their kids (ok shearing is just plain hard work!). We miss the VandenBosch’s very much and have enjoyed several visits at their new ranch in Bend OR. We are so grateful to have Amanda and Vince as our mentors. They have put us on the path to great success in the alpaca business.

At this time our herd is with Amanda & Vince in Bend OR.
